The Harder They Come
The Harder They Come - Starring reggae legend
Jimmy Cliff as Ivan, a young songwriter who leaves his home in the
country to go to the city and make his fortune. But when he gets there
he is robbed and beaten and sells pot to survive. He then spends his
time battling with the music business and keeping out of prison.
Great
film this one. Pretty hard to understand the Jamaican accents, but it
doesn't really matter because you get caught up listening to the music.
Although it may not have the special effects if star wars and the like
it is an intersting look at the turning point in the history of Jamaica
and its political scene. With tracks from desmond Dekker, Toots and The
Maytals and of course Jimmy Cliff,it also makes for good listening. |
