The Selecter
Real to Reel
Captain Mod Records
‘Real to Reel' is the brand new studio album from The Selecter. Their first one in 5 years all good Selecter fans should grab a copy for their collections. Although i did find that there doesn't seem to be anything that new or astouding about this album. Pauline Black's vocals are as amazing as ever, but I do seem to think that a lot of their earlier stuff is a lot better than this. Having said that, it isn't a bad album. If you are after something nice and relaxing to sit back and read a book to then this one should do it for you. The opening track ‘Black Ska Liner' is probaly then one I enjoy most on the album, as is'Peace Crisis' and ‘Beat down Babylon' which have more of the reggae rootsy style to them.
If you haven't been into the Selecter before then I would maybe pass this one over, but go instead for an older release like ‘Too Much Pressure' which you can also grab through Captain Oi!
