The Bludgers
are currently a 3 piece Oi/Punk band with some HC influences hailing
from Hamilton New Zealand. The Lineup consists of Mike-Guitar main
Vocals, Fatty-Bass, Vocals and Jello -Drums, vocals. We've been going
since around September 2004 when we started as a four piece from the
remains of a band called Mistaken Identity (named after the 80's
Auckland Oi Band), which 3 members came from and their flatmate Fatty.
That lineup played for nearly 1 and half years with various bands
around the North Island of New Zealand our favourite gigs being with
Gobsmakt when they reformed until one day Ewan then the singer left, we
had at that stage recorded 10 songs which were intended to be released,
but we didnt want to release an album we couldnt play live. Instead of
quiting we decided to continue Mike the guitarist had always sung on
most songs as well so he took over but we slowed down alot and became
a bit less punk and some songs we couldnt play live without Ewan.
The Bludgers
play gigs constantly and have been described on NZ's main punk site as
one of New Zealands busiest punk bands. In the last year The Bludgers
have played support for PTTB, Anti Nowhere League, Uk Subs, Agnostic
Front, and for the first time in the South Island supporting The
Exploited to a packed out audience, all bands which have never been to
these shores before.
Also The Bludgers also
play with a different range of styles of bands from Hardcore to punk to
psychobilly and Ska bands, currently there is no other Oi bands in the
country playing live gigs that we know about. The band has recently
begun recording a new album for release in the new year on Wrongside
records. You can check out some old songs on their myspace page which
is www.myspace.com/thebludgersnz
Future plans include touring the cd and maybe some shows in Australia in 2008.
