Retaliator
Beyond the Cold light of day
Released 2007
England's Retaliator are back with a new concept album that tells a story in seven tracks, or "chapters" to give it more of a book feel. This is nothing short of a great piece of Oi! art! The story and music unfold in a very fluid way and the sound bites between chapters are very visual conveying well the story of friends who grow apart over the years then are reunited, in a way....but no need to spoil it! I think different people might have different interpretations of the story but many aspects of the tale are set in stone as the lovely cover art indicates. Anyhow, THE MUSIC! This is some of Retaliator's best efforts to date with taking their sound to another level and it shows throughout. Chapters 2 and 5 really did it for me the most and I could write three more paragraphs on why, but I'll spare you and just tell you to pick this one up! Retaliator have taken a great story and concept and made it into a kick ass record, and that's that. 5/5 -SCN
