right_bird.giftmfbird.gifTattooed Mother Fuckers released their first Ep 'Hate Edge' in 2004, but it seemed to be their first full length album 'It's a Thug's Life' (Mother Fucking SOunds, 2006) which has really caught the attention of people throughout the world.

Here's what the band had to say on the sucess of the albums and whats in store for the future.

1. For those who may not have heard TMF yet, how would you describe the bands sound?

It’s real music for real people from the streets of hate, from the gutters of hell. It’s music that can even get your grandparents up and out of their armchairs and fighting with the neighbours. We’ve been labeled street rock, thug rock, Oi! Bla bla bla, but we don’t really label ourselves, we just play what comes to us and that’s it really. We have been involved in music for some years now and punk music is a big influence on us, I guess that this creeps into our sound, as does hardcore and a touch of Oi!, and if you mix this together with our real life attitude and the anti social lyrics you get ‘TMF’.

 2. Your first full length album 'It's a Thugs life' has gone down a treat here in Australia, and from what I read the rest of the world also. Did you expect it to be so well received?
The simple answer is no. We did this after talking for some hours through the bottom of dirty beer glasses, and like most drunken talk never thought any more of it. But it seems that this was just meant to be and something that the rejects of society were looking for. The first five songs we recorded were just a demo idea to see what we were capable of knocking together, and the results even shocked us, and they became our first E.P and mini C.D. That’s when we knew that we needed a full length album, and “It’s A Thugs Life” was the result. The support has been amazing, I guess some were dubious too start with but now it’s gathering acceptance across the world and being played by a wide range of hooligans, wasters and low life brothers and sisters. We thank everyone who has bought the C.D; shown us any kind of support and most of all shared a drink with us.

3. The split with Tollschock has been out for a while now, what’s the feedback on that one been like?

The feedback to the split has also been great and the last time we heard it was selling beyond our expectations. Our full intention was never to re-record any of them songs from the split, but as musicians we just knew they needed to be re-recorded and feature on the follow up C.D. Tollschock also produced some great sing along anthems for this split.

4. So who are Tollschock and how did that split come about?

Again I guess it was drunken talk at some gig that actually turned into something it was supposed to for a change. I’ve known the record label owner for some time and met the lads from Tollschock at gigs in the past and also seen them play, that’s why I decided that a split would be a great idea. The sad thing is that they split up when they recorded their songs.

5. You have a new album ‘Sex, Thugs & Rock n Roll’ that came out in mid March, tell us more?
Well, we knocked together another 14 songs about life and basically packaged them and put them out as our 2nd full length. But seriously though, these songs came together again so easily and gradually over a few months we built the album from 19 songs we started with. Again we released it on ‘Mother Fucking Sounds’, and again the response has been top notch. Also the artwork on this C.D will take some beating, as you mentioned in your review.

6. I hear a rumour about some kind of Retaliator / TMF project in the pipelines. What’s all that about or is it still under wraps?
Rumours, rumours, rumours eh! These rumours are true and there will be some kind of collaboration between the 2 bands, but don’t ask me what? The idea is we get together with a handful of riffs and lyrics, book a rehearsal room and jam out whatever comes together and then book a studio and record. Might be a 7”, might be a mini C.D, might even be a full length, you’ll just have to keep waiting. One thing is for sure it will kick ass. I’ve got a good feeling about this one.

 7. What other future plans are on the cards for the band? World tours, more releases? Or just whatever happens, happens?
Playing gigs is our main goal now but we’ve still only played 3 as I sit here answering this, but we have a handful in the pipeline. We were hoping to get out to Australia around this time but the plans fell through, we were gutted. If them same people are reading this, come on give it a go, it will work. The other plans we have. Well I will put the finishing touches to 2 tracks next week that were left over from the last album. They should be a new 7” for the vinyl junkies. The next big recording plan after that is a covers album, and not tracks that people will expect from us, but they will have a ‘TMF’ influence and twist I can assure.

8. You played your first show earlier this year at De Kastelein how did that go and what other shows since then, and shows coming up?

The Kastelein (or the Moloko as it is called now) was great. A lot of great friends and a good little atmosphere. We played in Germany next at the ‘Menfis’ skin house. This was also a great night in a great little bar. The last gig was the best so far, we played at the ‘Kuggnas festival’ in Sweden to 2000 + people with ‘Ultima Thule’ and many other great bands. As for shows coming up, none in Australia…. Sorry! But we’ve got my birthday bash in November, then maybe Spain, Finland, Belgium and England again in January.

9. Where can people contact you for merchandise, gigs etc?
We have our web page for merchandise and all other contact details. It is:
www.tattooedmotherfuckers.com
For all you Australian lot just contact ‘Deadset Music, they always stock our shit.

10. Any last words or comments for our readers?

Yes, thanks for the interview and sorry for taking months to answer a few questions, I’m the laziest bastard around at times. Thanks to all our friends and supporters everywhere, this band is yours, these songs are yours, fuck society and give them all hell

Cheers
TMF
