Mislead Riot
Demo
This was free at a record shop. It was described to me as “powerful Parramatta punk”. It opens with a quote from Romper Stomper. My expectations are not exactly great. That’s probably a good thing, because it means I can be pleasantly surprised, which I am.
This is not my cup of tea. It’s probably best described as “what hardcore became in the nineties” style punk. These guys don’t take themselves too seriously, and truth is they’re not too shabby. Too much of a metal/thrash influence for me at times in the music, less so the vocals. Certainly not at all overboard considering the hardcore of the last decade. This is definitely still punk. The production is in and out, but it’s a free demo with a hand-written cover for fuck’s sake. When you take that into consideration, it’s bloody good. From what I can work out they’re very young too, so all in all, it could well be worth keeping an eye on these guys in the future…
