Formed in Melbourne in 2006 The Beefeaters first show was at an
Australia day party and consisted of three songs, Skinhead Symphony
(Longshot Kick De Bucket, Skinhead Moonstomp, Liquidator), Don’t Go
Away by The Hotknives and Lorraine by Bad Manners. After a few months
of practice and the inclusion of a few more members the band was ready
to go and scored a support with The Ska Vendors for their CD launch at
The Corner Hotel, the rest was history…
Playing a set consisting
only of covers, the band has managed to rack up plenty of shows all
over Melbourne, gain a loyal fan base and play with all their favourite
bands (Strange Tenants, Bulldog Spirit, Marching Orders, The Ska
Vendors…). The Beefeaters are heavily influenced by ska coming out of
Jamaica in the early days but more so influenced by ska coming out of
both Australia and England in the early 80’s.
The band is
heading over to Sydney in late June for The Ska-B-Q and before this are
taking a little break to write originals, prepare for the tour and
settle in with their new drummer.
The current Line-Up is:
Dan – Vocals
Nico – …we aren’t even sure what he does
Dave – Keys
Jack – Lead Guitar
Jack – Rhythm Guitar
Jack – Bass
Chuckles – Trumpet
Callum – Alto Sax
Dan – Drums
and Alana (Tenor Sax) should be returning at the end of the year.
