Sound City Hooligans
We Live as Boys Should
Longshot Music (2006)

This album was originally self released by the band but has been licensed by Longshot Music. SCH are from 'Kamloops' in Canada. Hey, the name of their city is enough to want to check these guys out!
Anyway, onto the music.

First few listens kinda of just went by, I didn't really get into it, but I didn't not like it either. Some of the tracks sound almost Pop punk, although thats not how I would describe the overall sound. On the promo sheet which came with the CD, they are described as having a sound 'like a mixture of Oi! and blues rock'. I can't really pick the Oi! out of it, but it is definitly has a rock sound there.
The overall sound, especially the first track 'Hang Your Head Down Boy' reminds me a bit of the Strongarm and the Bullies sound (musically, not vocally)

The booklet doesnt come with the lyrics, and I am never good at deciphering what people are singing. But it is safe to assume from the titles that most songs are about the usual drinking and being a hooligan aswell as a few 'inspirational' tunes, like United and All that you are, which seems to have a chorus about 'bringing back the love' (thats assuming I am hearing it correctly!)

Not a band I would write off but they won't be everyones cup of tea. If you are into really hard hitting, in your face music with lots of balls then this probably won't do a lot you for you. It's nice non-offensive tunes you can put on and chill out to.

Pick it up at Longshot Music

Check out the bands website and check out some of the mp3's they have there www.soundcityhooligans.com/
