The History

'aussieskins' began in about 2002 as a print zine focused on the skinhead scene in Australia and Internationally. The print zine went for about 3 years and had 6 issues. Life then got a lot more hectic and the zine got to expensive to print so it turned into a webzine only.

The site has progressed from a small site with a few reviews and interviews into a fully fledged 'community site' where members can submit their own content, talk crap on forums, have their own profiles, add photos and pretty have as much or a little input as they want.

For a while there aussieskins.com also incorporated a small CD mailorder. Although since that grew much too big and also started selling a lot of stuff that appealed to punks and rockabillies and the like we moved it to www.deadsetmusic.net

aussieskins has no political ideology, it is simply a website for skinheads. I can just hear a lot of you now going on that all skinheads are either left or right and there is no such thing as a commie skinhead or a fascist skinhead or a this or that skinhead. And I guess there is some truth in that, even the most apolitcal people have political beliefs, but that is a whole different debate. The point is we are not a White Power site, nor are we a Commie site. See the rules and regs at the botom of the page.

Who

aussieskins is run by me, Fiona (aussieskin ).
I am the one resposible for the occassional stuff up which results in the site and/or the forums being down for differing periods of time. But really the content of the site comes from many different people. One of those many people being Trav (AKA Battle Scarred) whose opinion I quite often call on for advice on everything from interview questions to colours of text and to do reviews.

The Rules and Regs

There is really only one rule and that is NO POLITICS.
A lot of people like to argue about what 'no politics' means and continually question it. It really is very simple. This is a skinhead website which does not subscibe to any political ideology. Therefore extreme left and right skinhead politics is not welcome here. Granted, politics can be pretty unavoidable and there is a lot of music and what not which draws a fine line. At the end of the day I make the decision whether something is pushing the boundaries, and if something gets rejected I will email you and tell you why.
This rule applies to everything including the forums.

The opinions expressed on aussieskins.com do not necessarily represent our views.

Submitting Content

YOU don't have to be a skinhead to submit content to the site. You will probably notice there are a lot of reviews and interviews that include punk, rockabilly, psychobilly, ska, streetpunk/rock, and rock and roll. Pretty much anything which has some relevence will be published.

News
- Bands, Labels, websites, fazines, be they Australian or International... anyone can submit a news item to appear on the frontpage.

Band Profiles - Once you have joined the site and have been approved to submit content you can submit a profile of your band. Let people know who you are, where you are, what you are or anything else about your band. Once you have logged in you will see a link on the left to submit a band profile.

Send in a CD for review - If you have any CD's you want to be reviewed just send them in and they will be reviewd by either myself or someone else. See the postal address at the bottom of this page.

Reviews - Submit as many as you want. Let the world know about a CD that is really worth a listen, or one that is worth burning. If you do hate a CD and are going to give it a bad review, at least give the reasons why. Don't bother submitting a review that says 'This CD is crap', or 'This CD is really good'. Try and elaborate on it a bit. Having said that they don't have to be fine works of journalism that will win awards. If you do submit reviews on a regular basis then there may be a chance you could end up with free CD's to review. I don't have time to review everything I get so help is always appreciated.
It is preferred that reviews are not ones which are plastered all over other sites. There are exceptions, but generally it is preferred they only live here.

Interviews - If there is a band or person you would like to interview or see interviewed just drop us an email.

Articles - This pretty much covers everything that doesn't fit into any other catagory, Stuff like 'scene reports', rants and raves, good home brew recipes. You name it, it can go in here (within reason of course)

Forums - The forums are pretty self explanitory really. If you don't know how a forum works or what it is then I suggest you turn off your computer now and find another hobby. The only thing to know about the forums is that they require a seperate login to the one you use on the main site.

Gallery
- Shouldn't need explaining

Gig Guide - Add new shows to the calender. Make sure in the title you put the bands playing and where, even if you just put Sydney or Melbourne or Darwin. Makes it easier for people to find shows in their area.

Classifieds - List any old crap you want to sell in here. Please be aware that aussieskins.com takes no responsibility for anything bought or sold in this section.

Newsletter - Not sent out much. Only when there is a major update, so probably average 1 a month. You can unsubscribe at any time.

Links - To submit a link you need to email us. This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it It would be appreciated if you also add our link to your site. Either as a text link or by using one of the banners. For the banner code click here

We won't just publish any old crap. If something is really friggin stupid or makes no sense whatsoever it will be rejected. If it is we will tell you why.
