The Destructors
Excercise the Demons of Youth
Captain Oi! Records
The Destructors " Exercise The Demons of Youth " is a faced paced album of early Punk at its rawest. When Punk was this young bands such as Destructors sang about anything really, and didn't care which side of the fence their songs fell on as long as they confronted, and expressed the bands beliefs on not conforming to anyone's ideas, and upsetting people was part of the bands aims. This can be heard in songs such as " Society's Morons ", " Orders " which is about following a political leaders ideas to the point of you becoming a robot, and " Control " which is about not listening to and obeying Big Brother. Other topics covered in the album are serial killers " Northern Ripper ", " Son of Sam " , and " Hillside Strangler " , Also there are songs about " Prostitution," how fake it is to be one of the "Superstars", " terrorism in " Urban Terrorist " , and being in the army in " Soldier Boy " . . The album almost reminds me of a cross between The Jam and The Exploited if that's possible, and some of the guitar riffs are great. If you are a collector or listener to early Punk then this album is a must. If you like your early punk rock a bit heavier than Sham 69 etc then this album will appeal to you also. If I had any criticism of the album it would be that a lot of the songs are similar sounding, but, nothing different to other similar bands of this era. The amount of bonus material on this album also makes it great value.

Available now through Captain Oi Records
