Skint formed in Dublin early '93. Took a several months finding a stable line-up for Barry (Guitar), Loughie (Vocal), Terry (Bass) and Sonya (Drums)... and so it began...
a several months and a few gigs into it Terry fucked off (Nobody cared!!) Sonya left and both were replaced by Beano (Bass) and Fayzer (Drums) all of us had known each other for several years and the bands was more about friendship than musicianship...
This line-up stayed together from '94-2000 and recorded 6 tracks for Punks, Skins and Herberts Vol 1 on Helen of Oi! recs... then we did 3 more tracks for Helen of Oi! PS & H Vol.2 (which were shit!!!) and our 1st 7" on Walzwerk “7"s of NOize”......We soon followed up the 7" (well about a year later... not exactly the quickest of cats!!!!!) we recorded our 1st LP “In the Firing Line” for Walwerk... This LP saw us support Red Alert and Distortion on our 1st European tour...Over the next 18 months we shared the stage with such legends as Red Alert, The Business, Peter and the TTB, GBH, The Warriors, Menace, UK Subs, Oxymoron, The Crack, Splodge, Vice Squad, (Funny story about that one!!!) and a shit load of others that i cant think of now...
Loughie had enough and called it a day... i had always sang a couple of songs live so went onto Vox and we got another old friend of mine Markie who was gonna join Skint as a second guitarist anyway... Markie joined while we were recordin our second studio LP Thru the bottom of a glass... to promote this LP we went on a 6 week tour of Europe with Lower Class Brats from Texas... (Boy is there some stories from that trip!!!! best told over a beer or three!!!!!) needless to say the lads ran amok all over the place...
The band then gigged constantely til the release of their 3rd and final LP (SO FAR...) this was alive lp for Combat Rock in France...Skint also played several HITS and Wasted Fests and other mini tours and fests...
Anyway... we hit a few problems and Beano left to play with Blood or Whiskey full-time and Fayzer was asked to depart for personal reasons... two new faces were found by the names of Gipo (Bass) and Jay (Drums) with this line-up we records a 3 track EP thatwas due for release but has yet to see the light of day... (Any takers?) and performed that bands last few gigs before i fucked off to Australia and the band put on hold til my return to the Homeland...So its Over but not out....will chuck up a couple of pics as soon as i get a chance...Cheers Barry Skint
Ive added a few old pics of the band into the Gallery here... check em out
