Vendetta 101 came to idea one very pissed night on October 15 2005 at Moutguards CD launch at the Orient Hotel in Fortitude Valley Brisbane.
Mick and Scott had known eachother for over 20 years and had jammed together in our first band when we were 15 called SAS with Mick on vocals, Scott on drums, Martin Savage on guitar and we did not have a bass player.
20 years had past and while Scott had performed in numerous Brisbane Punk outfits such as The Rampant Scabies, Beer For Jesus and Val Hallah, we thought it a good idea while holding up the Orient bar to rekindle musical ideas and form our latest venture, Vendetta 101.

Over the course of that weekend, I went away and wrote three tracks that went on to appear on our debut 7 track EP, Point Blank. Violence, Brisbane 1984 and Right To Live. These songs sat in a drawer for 7 months as we had a cunt of a time trying to recruit 2 guitarists and a bass player. Just when we thought we were ready to kick off there just always seemed to be a fuck around, but myself and Scott were determined to persue. We then decided to advertise in the local street mags and within 2 weeks had the likes of Brenden, former Anger In Motion guitarist and Archie Rival, former Large guitarist and indie record label. So, we were set for our first session with Mark on bass, Mick on vocals, Brenden on guitar and Scott on drums. The firsat session turned out to be awesome with us being able to nail and record all three songs and we knew we then needed to recruit the likes of a 5th member to get that solid sound we were seeking. So back to the paper we went and within another 2 weeks we were holding auditions in Empire studio. We recruited a female bassist, Zoe who I must say is an awesome player but after a few weeks of rehearsal let go for personal reasons. Then next week, the current bass player, another Mark completed the line up and we were away.
Within a few short weeks we had over 10 originals down and decided to produce a 6 track EP. Our budget only gave us 2 days, one being for put down, the other for mix down. After one of our songs, Violence was taken in by Terry London in East London and a couple of other West Ham fellas into their studio, they produced an extended re mix which we decided to add as track 7 on the EP.
The rest they say is history. Point Blank has only just been released in August 2006 and plans are underway for another 6 track release by December 2006...all without yet playing a live show.
We are currently working on a Brisbane Annual Streetpunk Festival to hopefully kick off late January 2007, so we will make that the first appearence.
The point blank EP can be purchased for FREE! that's right, free!. That's because we're good cunts and don't believe in haveing our fingers stuck up our arses and trying to charge a bullshit price for an independant release. A basic DIY copy is available with only a couple of hundred collectors editions available which will only carry a minimum cost to cover art printing.
Feel free to drop us a line via our site, www.myspace.com/vendettahomepage and we'll be more than happy to send ya out a DIY copy, to ya door. Just remember that the Bundy Rum is on YOU if we catch up at a show.
Cheers. Mick. |
