The Upstarts will no longer be coming to Australia... Here is the official statement.

Angelic Upstarts
It is with huge disappointment that we have to announce that due to circumstances totally beyond our control, the Angelic Upstarts will not be appearing at this event. We would like to stress that we did everything we could to try and make Mensi, the band’s leader and figure-head, to change his mind, he simply would not.

This is very disappointing in the extreme as he originally agreed to appear at this show.

We offer our heart felt apologies to everyone who have bought tickets to see this band, arranged travel, holidays and accommodation on the assumption they would be appearing.

Like you, we feel totally let down and disappointed too.
The Alternatives
We did consider bringing the remaining members of the Angelic Upstarts over with a replacement singer, but with the greatest respect to the other band members, who in their heart of hearts, can honestly say you could even call it the Angelic Upstarts, without Mensi? It is similar to saying we would bring the Exploited without Wattie Buchan, or the Cockney Rejects without Stinky Turner, its simply not viable.

We do however thank the remaining members of the Angelic Upstarts for their offer to try and fulfil their commitment.

We also tried to replace the Angelic Upstarts with an act of similar calibre, but as we were let down so late in the day, this proved impossible.

Reduced Admission Price
Therefore the price of admission to the event is reduced by $15, to $35.

This is our way of showing our commitment to ensure the event is still a big success, even without the Angelic Upstarts. We feel this reduction is fair and appropriate, being that only two of the three headline acts travelling from the UK, will now be appearing.

Already Bought A Ticket?
Anyone who has already purchased a ticket will now be given a $15 refund on arrival at the show when they hand in their ticket and enter the venue.

The Show Must Go On
We are fully aware that the reduction in the admission price does in no way make up for the disappointment of the Angelic Upstarts not appearing, but what other choices do we have?

The flights and accommodation for the other bands are already booked and paid for, the tickets printed, the venue booked, the promotion in place, the equipment and venue hired, as well as everything else that has to be in place behind the scenes to ensure we can deliver a show to match your expectations.

We hope you agree with us that whatever happens, the show must go on!

Peter & The Test Tube Babies and Beerzone have asked us to pass on the message that both bands are fully committed to playing the show, and are looking forward to it very much.

Think Positive
To dwell on this unfortunate situation of events too much would be totally disrespectful to the festivals’ co-headliners, the fantastic Peter & The Test-Tube Babies, who we are sure will deliver, as always, a truly fantastic show. Add to the mix, the vastly-travelled and total entertainment package, which is Beerzone, top it up with the cream of the Australian Punk and Oi! Scene, throw in the reduced ticket price, and we feel this still has all the makings of a truly fantastic and memorable weekend.

We look forward to seeing you there.
