 Discipline
Downfall of the Working Man
I Scream Records
2005
Aside from 'Rejects of Society' (a best of album) and a split with Argy Bargy '100% Thug Rock' this is the first full length album for Dutch band Discipline since 2002 when they released 'Saints and Sinners', also on I Scream Records.

I have heard mixed reactions about 'Downfall of the Working Man'. Some people absolutly love it, other's aren't so sure, or just don't find it grabs them as much as some of their earlier stuff. I am somewhere in between, although more towards the 'absolutly love it' side. If you are a fan of early Discipline releases then you may not be as into this album as you are of the other stuff. Personally I like the sound of 'later Discipline' better than 'earlier Discipline'. The early stuff is too 'hardcorey' for me, but then still bloody good. If you have 'Rejects of Society' and really like it, then you will like this new one too. And yes I know that 'rejects' is a best of album, although the selection of tracks on it are the least hardcore sounding of tunes.

'Hell is for heroes', 'Red and White Army' and 'End of the Road' can all be found on the split they did with Argy Bargy '%100 Thug Rock', although the versions on this album are slightly different, and better in my opinion. The remaining 9 tracks are all new ones. 'Downfall of The Working Man', 'From Vengeance to Victory' and 'Strength to Live' are the tracks which stand out most to me, although I am sure it would be different for other people. Nothing really that 'new' in regards to the sound and lyrics on this album as compared to their last couple of releases, but by no means is it 'the same thing again' or not as good.

Discipline are one of the few bands who have changed their sounds a lot from their first album through to this latest release, but have gotten away with it. If you are dedicated Discipline fan then chances are you will love this album. And if you aren't a dedicated Discipline fan then chances are you may just become one.
