Hailing from Melbourne, you can catch them playing gigs at places like the Arthouse, the Tote, the Birmy etc.

WHAT

Charter 77 have been around since at least 1999 and are one of the longest lasting punk bands. God knows how - with the amount of alcohol they consume, they should really be on top of the liver transplant waiting list by now. Having said that, they are still going strong and never cease to amaze. Self-proclaimed "snot-punks", who else could sing a song about Australia's one and only Leggo-haired "personality" - Ray Martin. Expect to hear lots of loud, fast-paced, riotous punk rock when you attend a show or listen to a cd of theirs. Speaking of cds, you can find Charter on a few, including 3 Year Binge (their only full-lengther) as well as the We're The Blood compilation.  If you want to buy any of their records, you'd be best off to e-mail the boys directly as I'm not really sure as to the status regarding availability.

Although good news is that the boys have just finished a weekend in the studio recording tracks for an upcoming album. I was lucky enough to be able to have a listen during part of the prcess, and must say it is sounding fucking grouse! Looking forward to hearing the final product. Especially the Michael Jackson and Fish and Chips trakcs.
