US hardcore/punk
You have had quite a few line-up changes since your beginning in 1995. What's the current line-up?
Actually we've kept the same members for the most part. We switched drummers back in 2000 and recently we got Dave singing for us since Jack, our second singer, can't seem to keep his ass out of jail. Our current line up is Bill on vocals, Dave on vocals, Dane on bass and vocals, J. on guitar and Shayne on drums. Dave also plays bass on a few songs live and Dane takes the mic.

for those who have never heard 'Bloody Sods', how would you describe your sound?
I always have a hard time with that question. I guess I would say it's fast hardcore punk with some streetpunk and some metal influences especially in the drums with the double bass action going on. We also have three lead vocalists each with a distinct style and dlivery while maintaining the speed aspect of the vocals. It seems with every release we just keep getting faster and harder.

What releases do you have and where to get 'em...
Almost everything we have released is still available, most of it through www.interpunk.com
We have the first album 'Up N Runnin' (CD),
'4 Years of Blood Sweat and Beer' (CD) which contains most of the first album, the 'Beer Junkie' vinyl only album, which is long out of print, some 7" stuff and an unreleased track
We also have the 'Don't Give up the Fight' album (CD)
the 'Get Outta my Head' album (CD)
the 'Hate of Mind' 7"
the Bloody Sods/REEB split 7"
and soon will have a 3 band split CD with Skeptic? and Random Conflict on Bill and Shanon's new label D-FENS Records. You can also get everything from us as well as Mad Skull Records in Holland
note: www.bloodysods.com and www.madskullrecords.com and http://listen.to/D-FENSrecords , also there is a long awaited vinyl release of 'Get Outta My Head' due out on Intensive Scare Records, due no street date (it's been over a year now, may not ever come out, we just don't know), also are planning on going in the studio to record a new Cd for Rodent Popsicle Records, www.rodentpopsicle.com

You have done a bit of touring, are there any places you would love to play again... and why?
We are always happy to go to Amsterdam and play. We have an awesome response there as well as Berlin, Germany and we also play in New York a good bit. We are pretty much happy playin anywhere except in the Midwest US. What a desolate wasteland that is.

What local bands do you recommend people check out?
There are some really great bands around here like the afore mentioned Skeptic?, old school skate punk, Random Conflict, hardcore punk, Terminus City, great OI!, No Holds Barred, hard edged OI! with gravel vocals. There are a few more but the scene here has been on down swig for a while but seems to be gaining a little steam.
note: www.skepticmusic.com www.randomconflict.com www.angelfire.com/ga2/terminuscity www.geocities.com/drinkmorbeer (No Holds Barred) ... Terminus City merch is available on www.interpunk.com and at www.crashandburnatlanta.com , the rest are available through the bands themselves.

What music are you really getting into at the moment?
I don't know what everybody else is listening to but Bill has been on a Bonecrusher kick for a while. but I listen to more metal stuff, always Slayer, I just saw them play live and the encore was the whole Reign in Blood album, amazing. Also alot of old thrash bands, Deconstruction, Sodom, Kreator as well as Dew Scented, The Crown and the Haunted. Also the new Exploited album is bad as shit, and I've been listening to a good bit of the Briefs as they have renewed my faith in punk rock.

Beer seems to be quite an important part of your life. Has this been a huge influence in your music, or are there other things as well?
Beer is important to us but probably not an influence on our music. We are more influenced by the old bands we all grew up listening to, all the mid 80's crossover, old OI!, Thrash and that kind of shit. Beer has more influence on our social life and our touring habits as we have quite a reputation for consuming insane amounts of beer after the shows. Well also before and during. In Europe we are always getting challenged to drinking contests by people, but after about an hour they always bail out. They know they don't have a chance.
note: Shayne the drummer is straight edge and doesn't participate in the drinking, and just as a side note, Jeff Gaither once said they could "outdrink a small city and were louder than a large one."

You don't seem to take any political stance in your music, do you find that politics and religion is ruining the punk/hardcore scenes?
We do address issues both political and social, but we don't preach or try to push an agenda on people. We are not one of the sloganeer bnads we all know. that kind of thing can really take the fun out of the music, you may like the tunes but if the lyrics are really pushy it takes away from the whole thing. I understand voicing your opinion in music but Jesus Christ enough already.

Tell us about the track 'Skinhead Loser', Where did the inspiration for this song come from?
That song is about bullshit skinheads who are only there to fight and couldn't care less about the music. We had alot of problems with these fucks for a while. they would show up and start fighting everyboyd and just ruining the show. So we wrote this song about them to further let them know we didn't like them and they weren't welcome. It worked remarkably well.
note: not sure if it came through well enough, but Dane is not talking about ALL skins.

Have you had much of a reaction from Skins about this song?
Most skins understand the song and agree with it, but the idiots it was written about sometimes have a problem with us. We have had a few run ins with them, but unless they have all of their buddies with them they dont' say shit. We did have a time when we had an extra guitar case at show son stage full of aluminum baseball bats, and of course J and Shayne are always packing heat. So they really dont' want to fuck with us.

You guys can happily stand up and say you aren't 'punks' or 'skins', do you thin kthere is a lot of pressure on kids today to fit the category?
There is pressure to fit into a group because you can't be cool if you don't look like, act like, dress like everyboyd else. It's ridiculous. It' sthe antithesis of punk rock. We don't belon to any specific group and have no desire to. Groups of people tend to adopt and follow a group mentality and that usually ends up being a negative thing. We are happy being ourselves. That;s not to say that we haven't had animosity thrown our way becuase of it. The scenesters have a hard time understanding the whole individualist thing. they tend to think you're an asshole or you aren't down with the scene or some other bullshit. But whatever, who cares what they think anyway. Certainly not us.

Any last comments, things you would like to plug etc....
